John Saiz
While continuing his work at NASA, John joined IfM ECS the knowledge transfer arm of the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing (IfM). He established TechStrat to facilitate dissemination of the latest research from the IfM Centre for Technology Management to organizations in the US. His main focus is the energy, defense and aerospace sectors where he works with CTOs and other technology managers in industry and government.
John holds degrees in petroleum engineering and mechanical engineering and his industry experiences include a brief stint as a ‘mud logger’ with IDL, Inc. in the Texas and Louisiana oilfields, along with engineering and technology management roles at Honeywell Defense Systems, Oceaneering Space Systems, and Halliburton.
Saiz joined NASA in 1990 and directed a number of technology and flight development projects that included efforts spanning the full spectrum of “technology readiness levels” from initial proof-of-concept laboratory demonstration through long-term spaceflight operations on the Space Shuttle, Russian Mir and International Space Station. During his tenure as the Chief Technology Officer of the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC), he managed the development of the JSC Technology Strategy, overseeing a portfolio of nearly 200 internal research and technology developments.

David L. Brown
Following graduation from Norwich University, in Vermont, in 1979, David Brown began installing and programming industrial robots for ten years in manufacturing facilities throughout North America and Europe where he was based for six years in Germany. Relocating to Toronto, Canada in 1989, Mr. Brown joined Spar Aerospace and provided operations liaison support for International Space Station robotics.
Mr. Brown now contributes to technology portfolio management for research and development projects at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Mr. Brown has also earned his MBA, and MSC degrees, both in technology management.
